I had evisceration surgery 4 days ago as well as eyelid surgery on both eyes. The first 2 days were hell but I am doing better now. The swelling has gone down a little but I look really awful. The eye that got the surgery is sutured shut and oozing water but its not too bad. I go in for my follow up in 2 days.

How long does the swelling last?

Hi Joe. The swelling should be mostly gone a week after the surgery. There will still be swelling in the socket of the eviscerated eye for a couple more weeks. The eyelid surgery just adds to the swelling. It'll all be good. Keep it iced as much as possible.

Thanks Mike, do you know how long it takes for the stitches to dissolve in my eyelids?

I don't know that. I think mine dissolved within two weeks. I had some that the surgeon removed a week after.
