So. I am probably getting a little ahead of myself with this but it's kinda driving me nuts.
I started talking to this guy online a few weeks ago. He is way more attractive than someone I would normally feel comfortable talking too. He is very in shape and I am chubby...very good looking though.
Well, when he told me his name, I naturally googled him and found a news article talking about how he lost his eye when he was 13 and he had to get a new prosthetic eye donated for him last year. It just intrigued me so much that I have been researching it just to know more about it. This guy is great and his eye doesnt bother me. I am more bothered by how good he looks and how smart he is.
Well, we hung out one day at an outside coffee shop and he wore mirrored sunglasses the whole time. I hung out with him again at his place until 5:30 am(we didnt even kiss) we just watched movies and ate candy. He sat beside me, it was dark, he wears glasses, and he never once looked directly at me. He even put on a movie that he said hes never seen and there is a part where one of the characters takes out her eye ball and he said, "see this is scary!" And I of course said, "no, its not!"
It's eating at me to tell him that I know. I just dont want to make him uncomfortable.
We all have our "flaws" Mine is all over me, you can see it and there is nothing to explain. I know how it effects my self esteem and my dating life. I dont know how a prosthetic eye would effect someone's self esteem or even that it would at all. I could just be making this all up in my head. Honestly, I dont even know if he even has an interest in me. It's really too soon to tell. I just feel weird knowing and him not knowing that I know. I feel like I am being a creeper. I guess what I am asking is Should I wait and let him tell me? How does loosing your eye effect you dating, if it does at all? Is it something that effects your self esteem. I just want to cautious and not offend him or freak him out.

Hello Goooleslie,

I wouldn't tell him that you found out about his eye injury/illness even if it in written in an article on the internet. After all, you found out by accident when you googled his name.
I woud wait and go with the flow until he is ready to tell you. Most people are self conscious about something and if he is wearing dark glasses and doesn't seem to look directly at you , it sounds to me like he is waiting to tell you, otherwise he woud have already said.

I still have my biological eye but I can get self conscious when meeting new people (in the work place) as I have a fixed dilated pupil. Once I went to a party frequented by people who worked in an eye clinic. Almost died when I heard one girl shout out..Oh you've got a dilated pupil. I didn't know what to say. What could I say.
Some men/ladies who are dating do very nicely wearing a patch and othe's I know here have never been short of a date, others don't explain their situation until they have to. I think it is all quite personal and depends on the situation and dating set-up.

I wish you well and good luck with the next date. He sounds like a very nice chap.

I lost my eye as a child and I could tell you at 45 years old I am still self conscious about it. If someone is looking at me I immediately assume that they are looking at my eye and wondering what happen. Just let him tell you do not bring it up trust me he will feel more comfortable.
