Friends,

I just created a petition: domestic violence survivors against there attackers with plea bargains: Out law discussing a DV case while a victim is still in recovery , because I care deeply about this very important issue.

I'm trying to collect 200 signatures, and I could really use your help.

To read more about what I'm trying to do and to sign my petition, click here:

It'll just take a minute!

Once you're done, please ask your friends to sign the petition as well. Grassroots movements succeed because people like you are willing to spread the word!

Hello page87 aka Joi.
Welcome to LE.
What a horribly violent event to have had to have survived and to have thrived to become an advocate against domestic violence.
Well done survivor!
Best of luck to you.
Carry on!
:)

I hope you do not mind; but I thought it best to place part of your story here to entice and inform others.

THE PETITION (as I interpret it - Joi please correct this if it is incorrect) is to change current US law to make it un-lawful to discuss a DOMESTIC VIOLENCE case with the VICTIM while the severely injured/traumatized VICTIM is under heavy medication / post trauma shock / in recovery. In doing so ... allowing the VICTIM a full clear and sound mind to be able to determine the best course of action for their case.

In June 2009 my ex-boyfriend attempted to beat me to death. He broke every bone in my face, broke both my arms, and both of my hands. He left me for dead but I survived. Since the vicious attack I have had to endure over 40 hours of plastic surgeries and reconstructive surgeries. I lost one of my eyes along with damage, with vision loss, to my remaining eye.

Hello Page/Joi
I see your post has been re-posted in other sections of the forum. Just to let you know that I think the petition you have created as a result of your case and to help others is invaluable and I support it fully.
Things are continually improving in domestic violence/ violent attacks cases for the victim; one being the introduction of video interviewing (UK) so that the victim doesn't have to face the offender in the Court room.
