Helolo,
My name is Ivan, from Larnaca Cyprus. It is great to have such discusion site! Let me tell you little about me. I was born in Paphos, Cyprus, 28 years ago. I am aerospace engineer, I work at the Larnaca Airport. I lost my eye at my working place, December 22nd 2003. I was young angineer, working for only one month. It was my mistake, I was unexpereinced yet and I was interesting to see jet engine during the test. It was forbidden area, but... One piece of damaged turbine blade detached and hit my in the eye. Few months later, in March 2004, I got fake-eye, but, it looked horribly, fixed in the center without any movement. It is because most of my eye-moving muscules were injured so much that they had to be removed. After few tries to go with my eye uncovered, I returned to good old "pirate eye patch". My friends call me "Pirate Guy" P)
I see that most messages here are about fake-eyes, so I suppose most of you have one, and use it more or less succesfully. I am just curious, how many of you are wearing an eyepatch permanently?
Ivan

Hi Ivan; welcome to the group you will like it here; yes a lot of us have a prosthetic eye; some are parents of children with prosthetic eye/shell and some have damaged eyes; but we all have vision problems; I'm happy with my prosthetic eye so only patch a few times; again welcome and enjoy reading and chatting; cheers Vera

Hi Ivan!
You are from larnaca! I was there for vacation 2 years ago, and my ex-boyfriend is there in the moment for his own vacation. It is very beautiful city, i like it P)
I think we all have more or less problem of eye movement after enucleation. only few very lucky people have fake eye which moves ideally inline with real eye. so, it is common problem of us one-eyers, but... it doesn't help much. I hate it too, my fake-eye movement is limited to only +/-10 degree or so, even less in vertical plane. So, like you I wer an eyepatch, if not permanently, then most of time. After some time, you adjust to eyepatch and "new look". I think it is easier for men than for women to accept it... There are plenty of "fashion" patches on market, but all of them are not very comfortable, ifluencin strong itches on my skin after longer time of wearing. Only really comfortable patches are those made of ultrasuede, with wide non-elastic bands. At least, it is my opinion.

Welcome aboard, Ivan!

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear that you have overcome it so well. I'm a private pilot BTW.
