WHEW!

Yeah, we've got some pretty good citified H double O so I figured that was better than nothing-especially after using warm/hot water (not too hot) and for several minutes.

I slipped it under the upper lid first, then the lower, but I'll try looking up then down next time.

We followed up immediately w the anti-septic ointment too, but now I'm afraid it's gonna pop out at any time. Can't believe how easy it comes out?!!

3 things I learned most of all:
1) feels WAY comfortable w out it in there
2) without it in there...my eye really looked deflated and you can tell it's not an eye like it was before
3) yeah, I was totally not prepared for the grossness of seeing what was behind that clear piece of plastic & really don't want to see it again anytime soon. Does it get less gross looking?

Hi Scott; the good news is, yes it does get less gross looking and when you get your eye, it wont come out easily at all..!
It honestly will look pretty much like the inside of your cheek once healed. It will always look sunken with the eye out, but I dont take mine out unless I really have too. They say the less you bother it the less it will bother you, and that seems to be very true. My ocularist said its perfectly fine to rinse it under tap water and pop the eye back in. It will get better, the worst really is over. Jill

Hi; I think that happens to most of us during the conformer days. Mine came out too but my eye specialist had already shown hubby what to do to get it back in. One day it came out whilst he was at work so decided to soak it in preservative free saline (get some of that) until he was home. Forgot all about it passed a mirror; looked (BIG mistake) and I fainted (first time ever). But as Jill says; it gets better looking with time(socket) and when you get your eye hopefully you will never be without it. cheers vera

Thanks guys.

Man, this website is priceless! I recommended it to my doc at the Cleve Clinic & hopefully we'll have even more people learning and getting as much support as I have.

I know it's old hat to most of you-when you're "eye pops out", but that first time for me was pretty panicky. Settled down right away when I got it back in, but the shock of it was something no one can really prep you for.

THANKS A MILLION!

I had the iris conformer after surgery, it looked like an eye, one day it flipped over, I didnt know it happened until I walked into the restroom at work, looked in the mirror and screamed so loud people came running. My mind knew it was a fake eye looking the wrong direction, but it was such a shock

Hello Scott,

Sorry for the late reply but I just read your intro. I see you made it through the surgery and by now should be feeling much better, Most people feel the first 2 weeks are the worst, feeling a little better each day. I see you are from Akron, I am just outside Cleveland. Where did you have your surgery? I hope your healing is going well and are not having any more pain. Soon enough you will be able to meet with an ocularist and get fitted for that new eye, and that part is painless. Have a good day and good luck with your recovery. Take care.

Elaine
