I wanted to tell of my experiences with on-line dating,As a one-eye person you can only imagine the trauma that might be associated with this experience'
Here's what a put in my profile to help prevent a disastrous first meeting."I lost my eye in VietNam,call me colombo or Lucky Luciano. If this would be an issue, don't bother to knock".
This sure slows the responses down, especially from the "beautiful people".It is surprising to me that I get many responses still from many attractive,two-eyed ladies.
To any of you that want to try on-line dating I would advise you to be up front about this
minor "flaw" and you will find there are many beautiful people that will still respond to you.I will update all of you as to what adventures I have encountered later.

Good luck Jackson and enjoy meeting the ladies. There are wonderful people out there as LE members know. I had been out on 3or4 dates when I was diagnosed with eye cancer. Didn't expect anything to progress so when he asked me out again (he came with me to my 2nd eye appointment when cancer was diagnosed).... I said "you did hear I had cancer in my eye and end result will be removal= I will be half blind" and he just said "I don't care" we married 14months later ................ cheers vera

Jackson,
Good for you. I think being up front with people is a tough one for many. I, on the other hand, think it sets the bar. It eliminates the people who think that they're too beautiful to deal with something like this...and you get to weed out the phonies.
I'd love to hear how your adventure is going. The important ones are the only ones that matter; those who are focused on the person...not the outer shell.

@ Irish (Vera).....that is a wonderful story about you and your husband. It is very enlightening and endearing. You should also be "credited" with a positive outlook. Since you obviously have that, it makes it easier for those who love us to embrace these possible challenges. I love coming on this site....I always leave feeling even more optimistic.

Jackson....have a great time. Keep us in the loop.

LindaLou

Hey Jackson, I am "Lucky Luciano", with one eye! To be clear, my name is luciano and I naturally have been called lucky a lot, especially since i used to deal Blackjack in my sighted days.

I met my wife online and although I never mentioned my blindness in my profile, i was not intending to date as much as simply wanting to connect with like-minded people.

Cheers,

Luciano

Vera, I enjoy learning about how you met your husband....he is definitely a keepr!

I was looking more for a penpal kind of thing, and it happened to turn into much more. I was not shy of talking about my visual impairment, which included my blind left eye.

The important thing to remember in putting oneself out there to connect with people, in wahtever level, is to keep it real. Be with what it is, and strive to be honest and you can then trust that what you are building with someone is authentic.

Cheers to all us online communicators and the realtionships we form!

Luciano
