My name is Lauren, I lost my eye when I was three years old to (not sure of the spelling) Medulloepithelioma. It's an extremely rare cancer. When I was diagnosed, only 70 other people in the world had ever had it.

I'm so thrilled this site is here. I've felt completely alone for so long. I want to meet people like me, and talk to people with the same issues.

Hi Lauren, Welcome to Lost Eye. Nope, you're not alone having one eye but you may be a rarity on the type of cancer. We have many here who have had eye cancers but I'm not sure if any like yours.

Welcome, Lauren! It is such a good feeling to know you are not alone. If you don't mind my asking, where are you from? Share whatever you're comfortable with.

Hi Lauren; welcome to LE glad you found the site. We have a few in Florida so you may get your wish. I had chorodial melanoma in my left eye 20yrs ago and it was removed. That is rare too (about 1 per 3 millionpeople) but not as rare as what you had. cheers vera

Hi, welcome to the group. My daughter who
is 15 months old lost her eye three
weeks ago. She was born with a rare
condition called PHPV. She had
complications and was in pain. Since
the removal she has been doing great :-)
She gets her prosthetic soon. I hopu u
don't mind me asking ..Do u have
a prosthetic eye? Are you happy with it?

Glad you found the site, the people here
are amazing. xx

Yes I do! I'm very happy with it. Most people can't even tell which eye is which. :)
Sometimes it becomes uncomfortable and I'll take it out for an hour or two at a time. But 95% of the time I have no problems with it. Also, your daughter is young so she'll have no trouble adapting to it. I don't even remember what it's like to have both, and I'm actually kind of happy I don't.

Please keep me updated on your daughter!

Hi Lauren, welcome to L/E, have plenty of relatives in Florida but I am the renegade in Middle Georgia, hoping your wish comes true, but in the meantime the world of LostEye is at your fingertips, take care.

Tom

Welcome to L/E Lauren, so pleased to hear that you are happy with your eye, new member posted today with a picture and I can't tell which is the prosthetic either.
Enjoy.
