Hi,
For those who asked me to let them know how it went..... I saw my eye surgeon yesterday for a checkup (3rd since the surgery that took the sight in my right eye a month ago). She did some research and discovered that the antibiotic that she had to use to kill the psuedonomas aeroginosa bacteria is also the cause for my blindness. Seems in approx. one out of 500 people, it can cause blindness. In her 15 years of practice, my Dr. had never had this happen. Lucky me. I'm kind of back to ground zero in the depression department. Don't know why, it's not like I thought she was going to have good news for me, it just wasn't what I expected. Don't suppose anyone here has ever had any luck suing a pharmaceutical company? I probably signed away any chance to a lawsuit with all the papers I signed right before going into surgery (couldn't see what I was signing anyway!)
It's kind of like a friend of mine that just died, he had leukemia but it was the chemo that killed him.
Brenda

Hi Brenda. Definitely depressing news from the doctor. My stepfather died from his medication and we were in fact able to sue. My husband is a lawyer and says he believes you do have a case, even if you signed things. I'm going to private message you with his email address and with some questions he has about the antibiotic and he can do some research for you.

By the way, so sorry about your friend. Emilly almost died from her chemo, too - it's the WORST.

Hi Brenda; sorry the news was not good!!I hope you were warned about the 1 in 500!! my specialist always explains to me the best outcome and also the downside of any treatment; you need this information before you make decisions about ops/treatments. Have u tried painting yet or is it still too early??? Best wishes; Vera

Hi Vera,
No I was not warned but (according to my Dr.) it was her only choice............ who knows...........
It's possible it was mentioned in something I signed. I'm still doing my research. I'd sure rather have my eysight back than a lawsuit or maybe I won't have either one. I guess I'll keep my options open.
I haven't tried any artwork yet...... I have an order from a neighbor to do her a favor and paint her mailbox..... guess I couldn't mess that up, maybe that would be the place to start. Brenda

Hi; the mailbox sounds a good start; my passion is painting and decorating homes! With my cancer my specialist used something unusual (guinea piggish!!) but even though it was the only choice he still told me the downside. Good luck with the mail box!! What will u do with it???? send a finished picture; cheers Vera
