Hi People.
I was down vising my mother today. I asked the nurse to show
me how to look after the eye. She told me first how to clean around it and then how to apply the stuff that goes inside the eye. It's 5 days since she had the operation, and there is no brusing there.
Did it bother me to look at it, it was like that lady who posted a picture of her eye. But until you see it for real, you don't know yer gonna react.
People in the ward and a doctor I spoke to thinks she's great.
I asked her when she goes outside to sit, is she wary of people looking at her eye. She said "let them look away: In other words,
it doesn't bother her in the slightest.
Now before I went, I was asked if my mother would have to get any treatment such as chemotheropy. I didn't know because It had never occurred to me to ask. So at the hospital one of the
nurses rang for the doctor. Unfortunately the doctor came straight
into the ward, and I had to ask her in front of my mother about chemotherapy. I was hoping to speak to her about it in private. She said, that basically it didn't look like she was gonna need it, but the histology report hadn't come back yet.
That's it.
M

Thanks Andy, yep, she definetly has a positive outlook on life.
She's been in out of hospital quite a number of times, but seems to take it all in her stride.

Thanks Ruckus. I should mention that at the moment she has a kind of clear plastic thing over the "eye"

Hi Martin; its all grand news about your mum!! I also like her attitude; the plastic thing is called a conformer it is to keep the shape of the socket in between enucliation and getting the new eye; I had one with holes in it so it was easy to squeeze the ointment and drops through those into the back of the socket; but my hubby did all that! I'm sure the plan you set up for 3 of you to take care of you mum's needs will be working well; best wishes to you all; Vera
